RAYMOND D. ALLER, M.D. Dr. Aller has over 28 years of experience in information technology, the past 22 years focusing on applications to healthcare. For the past 16 years, he has practiced clinical pathology, clinical informatics, and transfusion medicine. He has selected, designed, and implemented a variety of information systems. In addition, he has been active in national medical and healthcare informatics organizations, serving on numerous committees, being a frequent guest speaker at national meetings, and publishing many articles and several books on clinical information systems. For the past decade, Dr. Aller has provided consulting services to a number of laboratory information system and instrument vendors and to various well known healthcare institutions. In addition to his consulting experience, Dr. Aller has held the positions of Professor of Pathology and Professor of Medical Informatics at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center, Salt Lake City, Utah; Director, Chemical Pathology and Laboratory Informatics, Long each Memorial Medical Center, Long Beach, California; and Clinical Pathology and Medical Director of Laboratories, John P. Blanchard, M.D., Inc., Pathology Group, Santa Barbara, California. Dr. Aller received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1976 and a Bachelor's degree in chemistry from UCLA in 1972. He holds a California Physician and Surgeon Certificate, Utah Physician and Surgeon License, and has received Board Certifications with the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology and Transfusion Medicine. His publications include 67 invited articles; 22 books, monographs, and chapters; and 24 peer reviewed papers, all focused in the domain of clinical informatics. He authors a monthly column on information technology for a national medical publication with a circulation of 45,000. Dr. Aller has presented well over 100 seminars, workshops, and plenary lectures at national informatics, clinical pathology, and transfusion medicine conferences.
