WILLIAM M. KLEINSCHMIDT

Mr. Kleinschmidt's broad background includes 24 years of working in the healthcare systems industry for healthcare systems vendors and consulting for systems users and systems vendors.

 Working as vice president, senior vice president, and/or general manager for such healthcare systems firms as HBOC Advanced Laboratory Group, ALS Pathlab, Knowledge Data Systems, and BSL Technology with responsibility for laboratory applications, he has experienced and managed all operational areas of the healthcare systems vendor business including system development, system implementation (project management, installation, documentation, and training), and client support. Additionally, he handled contracts for three of the firms and was involved with marketing and sales support.

 His system development experience has included involvement in three new clinical laboratory systems, a new anatomic pathology system, product integration involving multi- company products, and porting of existing products from proprietary operating systems to UNIX platforms. His implementation experience has included management of system implementation for dozens of sites. He has experienced the many issues that may arise associated with specifications, schedules, and budgets.

 This broad, comprehensive experience is particularly useful in management consulting roles stressing system implementation management and contract preparation and negotiation. Mr. Kleinschmidt has written and negotiated dozens of contracts successfully and, in addition, is a published author on the subjects of contract preparation, contract negotiation, and contract management, relating those subjects to healthcare system acquisition and implementation. He also has spoken on these subjects at professional meetings. Consulting engagement clients have included hospitals, clinical systems vendors, and companies engaged in hospital ownership and management.

 Mr. Kleinschmidt holds a Bachelor's degree in economics and business from the University of Texas and has completed all course work for a Masters degree in economics at the University of Texas. Subsequent studies included law at the University of Texas and management information systems at the University of Minnesota.
